Alan’s passion began at a young age, fishing lobster with his grandfather during school holidays — experiences that shaped the skills, knowledge, and love of the ocean he brings to every charter today.

I had the pleasure of trying out this new business last weekend. Highly highly recommended. Fingal Sea Safari delivers magic on the water. Wrapped in the comfort of a covered RIB, you skim across the sea with speed, style, and a front‑row seat to nature’s best — seals lounging, birds soaring, wallabies hiding, and the if you’re really lucky, you might see a porpoise dancing by. The crew’s deep roots in these waters make every story richer. It’s not just a trip; it’s a joyful, immersive journey through the heart of Fingal’s coastline. If you‘re looking for a nice event for the family or a team activity, highly recommended.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was without a doubt the highlight of our trip to Ireland! We had already done another sea safari during our holiday, which we really enjoyed, but this one was even more special. It truly felt like a real wildlife safari on the sea. The boat was fantastic – fast, very comfortable, with both indoor and outdoor seating, allowing everyone to enjoy the experience in their own way. Our guide was absolutely outstanding. He shared so many fascinating stories and insider knowledge about Lambay Island, its history, its wildlife and the surrounding coastline. You could really feel his passion and enthusiasm. We were amazed by the amount of wildlife we saw. We spotted countless seals, many different seabirds and learned about all the animals living on the island. Our guide seemed to spot everything instantly and explained it all with great knowledge and enthusiasm. What made the experience even more special was how much time and care he gave us. The tour even lasted around 30 minutes longer than scheduled because he wanted us to have the best possible experience. He was incredibly friendly, and having his son on board created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This was so much more than just a boat trip – it was an unforgettable adventure and a genuine wildlife experience. We would recommend it to anyone visiting Ireland and would do it again without hesitation. Thank you for an amazing day! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had such a great time with guide Alan and his son Tom! 🤗 You could really tell that they love the sea, wildlife and nature. Listening to Alan’s stories during our trip was the second highlight next to the amazing animals we saw 😍🐧

A perfect day out! Suitable for friends or families of any age range as ease of boarding is perfect. Firstly, I'll admit to being a very fair weather sailor. So, I was a tad nervous about the trip but the boat was simply amazing. Very comfy seats, complete with a canopy to protect you from Irelands often inclement weather, whilst still allowing you a full view of the magnificent coastline of Irelands Eye and Lambay Island from a totally different angle. What made the trip totally unique was Alan's indepth knowledge of the wildlife, ancient structures, shipwrecks and local fishing lore. Highly recommend this unique experience for friends, parents, grandparents as its truly such special trip!

My colleagues and I went on Fingal Sea Safari with Alan for a work social event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip over to and around Lambay Island. Alan was really knowledgeable about the island, the wildlife and the history of the island. Lots of interesting and funny anecdotes and local stories and folklore, Alan was really good company and a great guide. Would strongly recommend this trip to anyone, individuals, familes or as in our case, work outing. The timing of our trip was perfect too as we got to see puffins along with many other birds species. On our return to Howth then we had a huge selection of restaurants to choose from. All in all a perfect day out.

What an experience from start to finish. I was a bit nervous bringing my fit 93 year old Dad on board but the minute we were met by Alan the whole trip was seamless . Alan and Tom took great care of everyone on board and showed us loads of bird life (Puffins my favorite of all ❤️)and animals on lambay island….. plenty of history of the Island…. Definitely want to sample Lambay whiskey 😁🥃…..would highly recommend it…. What a way to spend a couple of hours in a beautiful comfortable boat and viewing the sites of north country Dublin from the sea….Thanks again

Simply unmissable. Winning combination of highly knowledgeable captain of the ship/tour guide Alan. Assisted ably also by Tom his son,and Lily hus daughter. A family affair, and that level of commitment is infectious and there for all to see. Very comfortable crossing, safety conscious and lots of time for photos, videos, information and laughing while taking in Lambay and its wildlife. As a working tour guide, and from the same town as the Fanning family, it's important to encourage local business ideas such as this. It makes everything particularly easier when its a flawless day out. Get booking. 👍🏻
